Diary 63

Diary
April 27th

On the 17th of April Saturday morning I had to, after discussing with my vet, put down my nice male.
It was the best solution for him because on the outside you couldn't see he had spina bifida.
The problems on the long term would be really serious.
It was a real shock for me. Giono has made a nice box and we have buried him in our garden.
We have put some small white flowers on it, small and beautiful like he was, I will never forget him.

Since Friday last week I know that Perla (daughter from Mona Lisa) is finally pregnant from Macgyver. Third try is a charm.
On the echo we could see she will get four kittens, five more weeks and they will be born. On one side I'm looking forward to this nest but on the other side I keep thinking at our Jantje.
I know this is part of life and like Gino has said he has had six good weeks but if an operation had helped I had paid for it even if it had costed 5000 euros and our male would still be alive.
Meanwhile all kittens have received a lovely new home where they are all spoiled by their new owners.
The first one to leave the house was Luna who moved to the Claasen family in Holland who have always owned a dog. So it's the first cat for Monique. This is what she mailed me:

She is so sweet, wants to be with you all day.
And we thought to have the most lively one, she wouldn't calm down.
But the opposite is true, she is very sweet.
Everyone who comes here is surprised. She immediately comes when you call her.
We didn't have to spray her with water, she behaves rather well.
I hope it will stay this way and it wouldn't get worse when she gets older, but I don't expect that to happen.
It's nice to hear that the others are also doing well.

Thank you Monique for the lovely email and photos and the good care for Luna.

On the 16th of April we have brought Valentino and Leonardo to Ina and Arjan and we could also see the males who already live with them, they both look great. Also Pixiebob Eliot from France.
They used to have two pixie's but Keba has passed away. It's because of Keba, who also came from France, I got to know Ina and Arjan. I had two kittens available but when they came they couldn't choose and have adopted both males.
Eliot is now taking care of the two males, that's something typically for a pixie bob.
When we arrived they felt immediately at home like they have always lived there.
Meanewhile I could cuddle the British short hairs and the large Maine Coons, I could also look at the Bengals, wonderful animals.
In the evening we went out eating.
Ina also keeps me informed with emails and pictures especially because I was worried about Leonardo. It's normal that kittens eat less when they exchange teeth but Leonardo scared me because he exchanged so many teeth at once it made him sick. Again I could go to Nele for vitamins and medicines for the little one, even when it was already late in the evening. One moment they are playing and two hours later they are very sick.
Thank you Nele for all the good care.
That's why it was so difficult to let Leonardo go but he can't be at a better place then where he is now.
Eros is being spoiled by Mark and Nadine.
Meanwhile he got them so far he can go to bed with them.
This is what Mark told me

Hello Hermelinda and Gino.
Finally some info about how it went with Eros.
After leaving from you he cried in the car for about 15 minutes. When we came home everything seemed to be ok with Blackie at first. At around 19h we let Blackie out by his own request and we haven't seen him until Friday afternoon. We let him inside but they both started hissing and growling so we put Blackie out again. Now we still feed Blackie (the few times he passes by) but we no longer let him with Eros. Who knows what an adult stray cat can do to Eros.
For the rest Eros is incredible.
Friday morning he was already used to the house. Nadine wore a jogging pants that morning but she had to exchange it for a blue jeans because Eros wanted to klimb in her neck via her legs. The same morning she cleaned the house with a belt around her waist and Eros in her sweater with his head sticking out like in a pouch.
Since Saturday evening he is sleeping with us in bed.
Sunday morning he got up with me around 6h30 (yes, I also get up early in the weekend). Since it's then to early to go to the baker or the butcer I read some in a magazine.
It was almost impossible. I'm sitting at the table reading my magazine and Eros climbs via my pyjamas (with resulting marks on my legs) into my neck and he tries to take off my reading glaces and when that doesn't work he lays down on top of my magazine. It's like he wants to say "you can't read, you've got to give me some attention".
Today was his first day alone (Nadine works 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8h30 till 16h30). Everything was all right, everything was still clean, no "accidents" or damage at the furniture. He was even waiting for Nadine at the kitchen door (I think he hears this from her footsteps when she goes via the garage to the kitchen).
Again Eros is incredible.
And this evening he will be with us in bed again.
Greetings,
Marc
I wish you all good luck with your Pixie Bob and I thank you all for your emails and pictures and I hope I can keep enjoying how they grow up to be beautiful Pixie Bobs.
Again I have really enjoyed this litter.
Even if I know they all get a lovely home it stays difficult to let them go. That's why I'm so grateful for the pictures and the updates I can receive.
Luckily not all kittens left this time and Mona can enjoy Nina for a while. She will enjoy our breeding program and can go to Monty next year.
Now she is playing with our Janneke who is a little lost after her brother died.
These are the last pictures I have taken from these five kittens. Mona Lisa and Nina and Janneke. The last one grows really fast.
But they are all very sweet and cuddly.

Janneke is available again because Karen has to work abroad (New Zealand) and a kitten can't go with her so she would miss the first months of her life which wouldn't be nice for her or the kitten. That's why she goes for a kitten from 1 of the following litters.
She is shaggy and very sweet and cuddly and big for a female. She is 7 weeks old and already weighs 1 kg and 200 grams. I have called her Jesse but that name can changed later on. For now her name is Jesse.
The other kittens are doing excellent and I have received more pictures from Ina.
Pixie bob Eliot is taking care of the 2 newcomers.
Nicole has also given me some wonderful pictures. Thank you for this so I can also enjoy how she develops into a lovely lady.
Here are some pictures from Dio.
She's doing very well and she has grown a lot.
Ferre has become her best friend :-)
Here are some pictures from Chubby and Dio at the hairdresser.
Dio has even taken a bath and that went pretty well.
I have taken some nice pictures from Makena she has been on holiday and is a good friend of her sister Makené.
She is part of the group again and it's if she never left.
They look a lot like each other both poly and short tail.
Only Makena's tail is a little shorter and her coat is more reddish but they have both a sweet personality.
You can meet the Pixie Bob at Flanders expo in Gent on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of May.
